General Handyman
A Local Handyman for the Jobs That Keep Getting Put Off
Most households have a list. A shelf that never went up, a curtain pole that needs refitting, a flat-pack wardrobe still in its box, a handle that has been loose for months. None of it is urgent, which is exactly why it stays undone.
This is the work MR HANDY does most of, and it is the reason the business exists. No job too small — and several small jobs in one visit is usually the sensible way to deal with a list.

Worth Knowing
Fixings, Walls and Why Things Come Loose
Almost everything that falls off a wall does so because of the fixing, not the bracket. A plasterboard wall will not hold a loaded shelf on standard plugs, and a TV bracket needs to reach the timber studs behind or use fixings rated for the load.
Finding out what the wall is made of takes a moment and changes the whole approach — solid brick, block, plasterboard on studs, or plasterboard dot-and-dabbed onto masonry all need different fixings.
It is also worth knowing what is behind the wall before drilling. Cables usually run vertically or horizontally from sockets and switches, and pipework often runs near boilers, radiators and bathrooms.
Flat-pack furniture is mostly about squareness. Getting the carcass square and the back panel on correctly is what stops doors dropping out of alignment a few weeks later.

Why MR HANDY
Why Use MR HANDY
Small jobs are often hard to get done — they are too minor for larger firms and too fiddly to keep putting off. They are treated here as proper work, quoted clearly and completed properly.
Because you deal with one person directly, it is easy to add a job to the list or ask what something is likely to cost before committing.
