Home Improvement Services in Nottingham
Nottingham is the southern edge of MR HANDY's coverage, reached down the A1 and M1 from the Doncaster base. Visits are arranged for a date rather than at short notice, and travel is included in the price you are quoted.
Work here is mostly decorating, flooring and landlord maintenance — rooms and whole properties rather than single small tasks, which is what makes the distance sensible for everyone.

Local Knowledge
Working on Nottingham Homes
Nottingham sits on soft sandstone, and it shows up in the housing. Cellars are common in the Victorian terraces across Sneinton, Radford and Hyson Green, and a good number are cut into rock rather than lined — so they move moisture into the floor above and change what flooring is sensible at ground level. Laminate over an unventilated rock cellar is a short-lived floor.
The rental belt around Lenton, Dunkirk, Beeston and parts of Sherwood is one of the largest in the country, and the work it generates is turnaround work: redecoration between tenancies, damage repairs and flooring chosen for durability over appearance. Deadlines there are set by tenancy dates rather than preference, which is the single most useful thing to tell us early.
West Bridgford, Wollaton and Mapperley Park are largely Edwardian and interwar, with bay windows, original panelled doors and proportions worth working with rather than against. Decorating those houses is mostly a preparation job — a century of paint on woodwork generally needs taking back rather than another coat adding to it.
Red brick dominates rather than stone, which makes exterior work more predictable than in Calderdale. The catch is that older Nottingham brick is often soft and porous, so hard modern pointing and sealing coatings trap moisture and spall the face off the brick. On the older stock, like-for-like lime-based repair is usually the right answer.

How It Works Here
Working Further Out
Visits are planned, not immediate
Nottingham is outside the day-to-day working area, so a date is agreed in advance rather than fitted into the same week.
Travel is quoted, not added later
The journey is priced into the figure you are given up front. There is no separate call-out charge appearing afterwards.
Better suited to larger jobs
A room, a floor or a property turnaround makes the distance work. A single ten-minute task honestly does not, and you will be told so.
Group the work where you can
Several jobs handled in one planned visit to Nottingham costs less than the same jobs split across separate trips.
