MR HANDY exists for the jobs that fall between a DIY afternoon and a full contractor. Repairs, fitting, decorating, maintenance and finishing work — the things that make a house comfortable but rarely justify a large firm and a long lead time.
The business is run and the work carried out by Radek Oracko. That means the person who quotes the job is the person who does it, and the person you speak to if anything needs sorting out afterwards.
Work covers 12 service areas across South Yorkshire, from single small tasks through to redecorating rooms, fitting floors, replacing fencing, renovating kitchens and bathrooms and maintaining rental properties.
How It Works
From Enquiry to Finished Job
You describe what needs doing — by phone, WhatsApp, email or through the quote form. Photographs help, and for many jobs they are enough to give you a realistic figure without a visit.
Where a visit makes sense, the job gets looked at properly before it is priced. You are told what the work involves, including any preparation that is not obvious, so the quote is the price rather than a starting point.
If something falls outside what can be taken on — gas, notifiable electrical work, glazing, anything needing scaffolding — you are told plainly rather than finding out halfway through.

Preparation Is the Job
Most of what separates work that lasts from work that does not happens before the visible part starts. Filling and sanding before paint. Checking a subfloor before flooring. Looking at the post before replacing the fence panel.
It takes longer and it is not what anybody photographs, but it is the reason a job still looks right in two years.
Where a cheaper approach would genuinely do, you will be told that too. Recommending more work than a job needs is a quick way to lose a local customer base.

Working Around Your Life
Home improvement work happens in occupied houses, around furniture, pets, children and everyday routines. How that is handled matters as much as the finish.
Floors and furnishings are covered before work starts. Dust is kept to the area being worked on. Rooms are left usable at the end of the day wherever that is practical, and waste is cleared rather than stacked in the garden.
If access needs arranging, or there are hours that do not suit, that is worth saying at quote stage — it is almost always easy to work around when it is known in advance.
